What You Need to Know for Planning an Amazing Baby Shower
Your best friend is pregnant, and you plan to throw the most fantastic baby shower ever for her!! You are super excited about that, but now, there is this one, huge problem: you have no clue where to start!! But don’t worry, it’s super simple! All you have to do is ask the mom-to-be the RIGHT questions, and the shower practically plans itself! And in this blog post, I’ll tell you the exact ones you need to ask to plan an amazing baby shower!
Basics & Logistics
First, you need to figure out the framework for the party by asking these questions:
What’s your preferred date? (Tip: You shouldn’t hold a baby shower fewer than two months from the due date!)
Would you like to celebrate in the morning, around noon, in the afternoon or evening?
What’s your budget? Is it flexible?
Guestlist: How many people would you like to invite? Are kids allowed? Would you like to have a co-ed or girls only party?
Where would you love to celebrate (e.g., at home, at a restaurant, at a hotel, at a cafe)?
What would you like to serve (e.g., light brunch, coffee and cake, warm or cold snacks)?
Would you like to serve alcohol for the guests?
Do you have any vendors that you would love to have for the party? (e.g., your family photographer, your trusted caterer or your favorite baker)?
Should it be a gender reveal party?
Do you want to tell people your baby’s name?
Vision & design
Now that you know the framework, it’s time to dig into the design part of the party by asking the mom-to-be specific questions about HER vision:
When you think about your perfect baby shower, which three words pop into your mind? (e.g., classy, elegant, rustic, laid-back, fun, colorful)
What are your favorite colors?
Do you have favorite flowers?
Do you have a theme in mind, or is there a theme you don’t like at all?
Are there any baby shower “must-haves”?
Are there any baby shower design “no-goes”?
Baby shower games- yes or no
Playing games at a baby shower can be sooo much fun, but not everyone likes them! So ask the mom-to-be these questions first, before creating a master entertainment plan:
Would you like to incorporate any games or activities?
Do you have any favorite games or activities in mind?
Are there any games you don’t want to play like “pinning the sperm on the egg” or “what’s in the diaper”?
If you stick to these questions, I can assure you that you will plan the most amazing and fun baby shower ever, having nailed the mom-to-be’s vision!!
